APIX has the following missions :
• Improving the business environment
• Searching for and identifying national and foreign investors
• Assisting investors, in order to cut red tape
• Ensuring follow-up and evaluation of the investment projects in Senegal
• Providing assistance in the search for funding and/or partnership
With the one-stop office, APIX can manage investment projects more efficiently, through a modern procedure including:
• The carrying out of all red tape for business creation or modification, in one registration application form.
• Certification to the Investment Codes and status of a free export company
• Follow-up of the approved investment projects

Several sectors have been identified as having high economic potential:

Businessmen wishing to invest in Senegal and therefore needing to acquire land must bear in mind that appropriation or use of a plot of land requires complex procedures, because of the multiplicity of the juridical conditions of land tenure and the high number of actors involved in the decision-making process.

> What documents should be produced to obtain a residence permit or work permit in Senegal ?
Documents required to obtain a work permit
• a manuscript or (typed) application letter addressed to the Ministry of Interior;
• a photocopy of your valid passport, bearing the date on which you arrived in Senegal;
• a police record from your country of origin, ( less than three (3) months old);
• a birth certificate;
• a medical certificate of less than three (3) months old (3);
• a repatriation guarantee, the amount of which varies according to the investor’s nationality
(CFA francs 75,000 for French nationals) or a certificate of exemption from the repatriation guarantee issued by the Ministry of interior. Development workers and NGOs are exempted from this guarantee;
revenue stamps amounting globally to CFA Francs15 200 francs CFA ;
• 3 passport photographs;
• Professional documents (status of the company, trade register etc. )
The issuing of the authorization to take up domicile entitles investors to a foreign identity card.

Documents required for the delivering of work permit
• 1 police record
• 1 medical certificate
• 1 certified photocopy of passport
• an application letter addressed to the Ministry of Labour
Recruiting of foreign staff
The working contracts of the foreign staff should be submitted to the Labour director, who must give an answer within 15 days.
The staff that are going to be recruited must have a residence permit.
Documents (pieces) to produce for a work permit
• 4 copies of the application form issued by the Chamber of Commerce
• The original and a photocopy of the passport
• the original medical certificate and one photocopy
• a copy of the police record and one photocopy (less than three months old)
• A letter addressed to the Labour Director for its approval
• One copy of the labour contract

> Is there a limit to profit repatriation ?
No, there is no limitation to remitted earnings for companies based in Senegal.

The hard costs of the production factors
> What is the duration of the certification procedures for tax incentives ?
The procedure to certify the Investment code is 10 days from the moment the dossier has been submitted to APIX.
The procedure to certify the status of a free export company is 21 days from the moment the application has been submitted to APIX.
> Is there a discrimination between nationals and foreigners in the awarding of tax relief and customs advantages as far as investment is concerned?
There is no discrimination based on the nationality of investors, as far as the procedures to certify the Investment Code and status to a free export company are concerned. Eligibility to any of the two statuses entitles anybody to all tax incentives and customs exemption, regardless of their nationality.
